GURGAON: People living in Gurgaon DLF Phase-1 are up in arms against a commercial building that’s coming up their area. According to the residents here, the alleged building is a illegal structure and being constructed with connivance of corrupt officials without any sanctioned approvals. The said building is situated in DLF Qutub Enclave, has 36 rooms, and would probably be utilized as a guesthouse, although the master plan landuse of the area is “strictly” residential.
The citizens allege that the building plan for the same were neither applied and nor obtained from the MCG. The builder is a resident of nearby Chakkarpur village and is doing illegal construction with help of his political contacts.The structure is prima facie being built illegally as the building has three-and-a-half additional levels over the first floor. Whereas, building bye-laws and regulations permit one-and-a-half story above the ground floor. Further, the plot does not has left the 5 mtrs open areas in the front and back, which is also known as building setback.
But more seriously, having a single staircase – along with a narrow one at this – it’s also a fire safety hazard. “The stair case steps happen to be built directly on the main road,” stated Badri Agarwal, who is a resident of Qutub Enclave for 25 years “It’s totally illegal.” Agarwal stated that MCG commissioner, T L Satyaprakash, has ordered to seal the building.
However, when the correspondent of Times of India newspaper contacted, Satyaprakash , he stated to be unaware of any such complaint but added he would take action once he receives it.
Dhruv Bansal, representative of the Qutub Enclave RWA, said, ” Residents have reported to the authorities that 36 rooms and bath rooms are being built by the builder, flouting all building by laws.”He stated that insufficient administrative will is the reason for the problem. “There’s a desire to make another wing that can embark upon raids every week to check on these violations,”.
